From 1303 to 1945 the estate was owned by the von Dewitz family, the last owner until 1945 was Fritz von Dewitz. Mrs. von Dewitz died in Cölpin during the expulsion, Mr. von Dewitz moved to Lübeck with his children and wrote a book there "About the Forest" (the Cölpiner!). After 1945 refugees moved into the manor house, later it was used for a school and a restaurant. After 1992 the Johanniter-Unfallhilfe used the building. In 2008 the current owner acquired the manor house, a stud farm with show jumping horses is being built here as an outpost of the Aldenbergh stud farm in Holland.... Very well signposted and quiet cycling and hiking trail. Unfortunately there are a few rest stops. Many memorial stones and discoveries possible.

The beautiful cycle path through the forest has been very badly polluted by heavy agricultural machinery.

You pass here directly on the bike path. A short detour to the church would be beneficial, but closed here too.
