On June 24, 2019, a serious aviation accident occurred near the town of Silz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Two German Air Force Eurofighters collided during a training flight. The collision caused both aircraft to crash. One of the pilots was able to eject using the ejection seat and was later rescued from a tree with injuries. The second pilot died despite the ejection seat deploying. The two crash sites were approximately five kilometers apart: one in the wooded area near Silz, the other near the town of Nossentiner Hütte. The photo shows the crash site in Silz.
