The Hagenow Land–Bad Oldesloe railway line (also called Kaiserbahn or Kaiserstrecke) is a partially disused railway line in the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein. It connected the towns of Hagenow, Ratzeburg, and Bad Oldesloe and, with its continuation via Bad Segeberg and Neumünster, formed the shortest rail link between Berlin and Kiel.

The gatehouse is currently being renovated (August 2025). It's wrapped like a work of art by Vhristo. But it's still very impressive.

The estate, built in 1889, is located in the idyllic village of Trenthorst. It has been federal property for several years. The Thünen Institute for Organic Agriculture conducts research into current ecological issues and advises the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. Exciting events for the public are held throughout the year. https://tourismus-stormarn.de/de/schloesser-und-herrenhaeuser/gut-trenthorst--159

FeRo had really terrible weather conditions and still made a recommendation. And rightly so! I was there in September 2024 and had fantastic and sunny early autumn weather - pure enjoyment. The mansion (white) built on the estate in 1889 has been federal property for several years. and is home to the Thünen Institute for Organic Agriculture, which researches current ecological issues. The origins go back to the 14th century, and the farmyard and gatehouse in red clinker are particularly beautiful.

The Trenthorst estate has a long history. In the 14th century, a knight from Wesenberg is named as the owner, who sold it to the Lübeck cathedral chapter. It then belonged to the Lübschen estates for a long time. In 1955 it was transferred from private ownership to the Max Planck Society and was henceforth owned by the state. Today it is home to the Thünen Institute, which is part of the division of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The buildings probably largely retained their current appearance after 1910. The buildings were extensively renovated around the 2010s. The buildings are listed buildings.
