The Chapel of St. Mary on the Kapellenberg in the wooded area north of the town center was consecrated in 1856. As early as 1750, there was an Olivet Grotto here, visited by churchgoers on their way from Schwagstorf to Ostercappeln. On July 29, 1856, the Catholic parish of St. Lambertus also celebrated the consecration of the Stations of the Cross, which were equipped with small houses. The reason for the construction of the place of worship was the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Source: ostercappeln.de The ridge path leads directly past it. A lovely place for a break.
