Duderstadt has a very beautiful old town center

The children can climb the KiKA tree house, and we even ventured up the stairs to enjoy the view “of the countryside” - beautiful.

The grounds are beautifully spacious; when we arrived, the pigs were being watered and were wallowing happily in the mud. Many other animals can be encountered while wandering around the grounds: colorful peacocks, geese, ducks, chickens, roosters, fallow deer, donkeys, rabbits, goats, and the Harz Red Mountain Cattle. There is a display stable, but it was mostly empty, as the cows were in the paddock.

Surprisingly wide and long and there are endless half-timbered houses. The usual shops with the usual pedestrian stoppers that make the whole thing look a bit cheap. Churches at both ends of the street, the town hall in the middle... Very beautiful with a few minor drawbacks!

Reinstalled in November 2021: Bench on the green strip in front of the Sielmannhütte with a view of Duderstadt and the Gleichen. The black, red and gold posts are reminiscent of the inner-German border. The bench was made in the Lebenshilfe workshop in Leinefelde

Nature and species conservation are alive here. For three decades now, the wonderful estate has been one of the most popular destinations in southern Lower Saxony. From the show stable with the rare domestic and farm animal breeds to the interactive exhibitions and imaginative climbing paths to the fallow deer enclosure and the orchards, everything revolves around the concerns of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation. You can have a great day at any time of year and, at the same time, learn new, interesting and entertaining things about the plants and animals on your doorstep. https://www.gut-herbigshagen.de/
