In 1780, the Justice and Revenue Office was built on the walls of the old castle using stones from the demolished Tautenburg castle. The onion-shaped dome and the barrel-vaulted cellar may still date from the old castle. The office's responsibilities included the collection of taxes, rents, fair fees, and labor pensions (feudal services). A judge had his office in the building, and a prison room was also available.
