The cycle path to the northern Egelsee is certainly still closed until 2027 due to construction work in the Iller. Heavy trucks drive there during the day, so stick to the ban or ride after work hours.

My brother from Memmingen and I have crossed the bridge off our list. The 2-step staircase is quite a workout with a 30 kg e-bike and/or panniers. The bridge path is rather narrow, and with mirrors and panniers, it can get tight when there is oncoming traffic. So, pray that no one is coming.

The Iller has been undergoing reconstruction for many years from here to Buxheim, or rather, the "construction sins" of the past are being corrected and the cycle path is rightly closed. Many trucks come here, which is why it is dangerous during the day and the very long path to Buxheim is much too narrow. Steps are being created from the weirs that allow fish to "ascend", even if the fish population is not doing too well. Hopefully, this will improve with the reconstruction.
