Located in the heart of Sion's historic center, the Cathedral of Our Lady is an imposing example of Gothic architecture that stands out with its Romanesque bell tower, the tallest in Valais. The current structure, built between the 15th and 16th centuries on the foundations of previous buildings, impresses with the balance between the solidity of the stone and the verticality of its volumes. Dominating the Sion skyline from one of the two hills overlooking the capital of Valais, Valère Castle is a fortified complex that seems suspended in time.
