April 21, 2023, Tunnel to the Sea

The tunnel is only suitable for small cars or bicycles. It is part of the EuroVeloRoute8 (the Mediterranean route) and after the tunnel you have a beautiful coastal road all to yourself. A dream!

23 great switchbacks and always a fantastic view. It's worth cycling down and up again, especially since it's only 6% on average. It goes up quite evenly, it's about 390 hm.

In fact, a magnificent view of more. Incline very pleasant with 5- Max. 8%. Top asphalt. Hardly any traffic (but like everywhere in Croatia: 5% of drivers overtake life-threateningly!!!!!)

A beautiful bridge at the crossing of Mali into Veliko jezero. A solid place to bathe (although places on the north side may be better).

A strong road for everyone who likes to scrub vertical meters. The road is in very good condition. At the beginning there are a few small ramps through olive groves. But then the road winds up - there is an alpine feeling. In just a few kilometers you conquer more than 200 meters in altitude, exhausting but you are rewarded with a wonderful view of the sea. I would always drive the route from Trpanj inland, i.e. up the ramp. The tight corners are not a problem and you have plenty of time to enjoy the view. Then go down to Trpanj on the main road.

Fine road to the small town of Duba Plejeska. The asphalt is a bit rough, but the road is generally well maintained - no potholes! So you can also let your gaze wander over the sea to the mainland and it's worth it. The view along the steep coast is very beautiful.
