The courthouse at Clara-Zetkin-Straße 14 (currently the branch office) dates back to the German Empire. It is a listed brick building from 1894, erected as a district court. From 2018 to 2020, it was extensively renovated (costing approx. 2.85 million euros); the former prison now houses, among other things, the land registry office. Until 2015, there was a branch office at Neues Weg 19. The Malchin branch (since 1998) was dissolved in 2009.

The so-called Zille House used to stand at this spot. Margarete Köhler-Zille (1884–1977) lived there, the daughter of the famous Berlin draftsman, graphic artist, and photographer Heinrich Zille (1858–1929, known as “Pinselheinrich”). There is a bust of Heinrich Zille, an information board, benches, and trees in the square. It commemorates the former resident and the family connection to the artist.

Built in 1897 from red brick on a hill, when Demmin received a central water supply. Originally, it had a conical roof. Stylistically, it is a Neo-Gothic brick building on a fieldstone base with an arc frieze and decorative battlements – comparable to contemporary towers in Rostock, Wismar, and Eutin.
