Nice place to lay down and rest. If you look closely, there is Mary's paint built in the rock.

At least the parking meters in the valley here accept debit cards. That wasn't the case everywhere. The castle itself is unspectacular; apart from the views of the valley, only the entrance gate is impressive. The tower itself offers almost no views, just a continuous loop of films with beautiful aerial shots.

The castle in Ojców is one of the most interesting ruins on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests, located on Castle Hill in the Ojców National Park. It was built in the 14th century on the initiative of Casimir the Great and served as a royal guardhouse. The characteristic defensive tower, entrance gate and fragments of walls, which have undergone conservation work in recent years, have survived to this day. Currently, you can visit not only the courtyard, but also the interior of the tower and the new viewing platform with a panorama of the Prądnik Valley.

The Park Krajobrazowy Dolinki Krakowskie area offers a wide variety of hiking experiences, with over 50 routes in total. Many of these, including 12 easy and 39 moderate trails, are well-suited for families looking to explore the beautiful valleys and rock formations.
Yes, several circular routes are perfect for family outings. For example, the Café Niezapominajka loop from Bębło is a moderate, shorter option. Another great choice is the Dolina Kobylańska – Sokolica Cliff loop from Bolechowicki Ravine Nature Reserve, which offers stunning scenery in the Kobylańska Valley.
The region is famous for its dramatic limestone rock formations, deep valleys, and picturesque streams. Families can discover impressive features like the Brama Bolechowicka (Bolechowice Gate), a magnificent rock formation guarding the entrance to Bolechowicka Valley. The Będkowska Valley is also home to the 'Szum' waterfall, the highest in the Jura region, and numerous climbing rocks.
While many trails feature varied terrain with ascents and descents, some sections within the valleys, particularly along the valley floors, can be suitable for families with toddlers or sturdy strollers. It's best to check individual route descriptions for specific accessibility details, as the karst landscape often includes uneven paths and rocky sections.
Parking is generally available at the entrances to the more popular valleys. For instance, you can often find designated parking areas near the starting points for trails in Bolechowicka Valley, Będkowska Valley, and Kobylańska Valley. It's advisable to arrive earlier on weekends or during peak season to secure a spot.
Yes, some trailheads are accessible via public transport from Kraków. Buses often serve villages located near the park's valleys, such as Bębło, which is a starting point for routes like the Kraków Gate – Ojców Castle loop. Checking local bus schedules is recommended for planning your trip.
Generally, dogs are welcome on trails in Park Krajobrazowy Dolinki Krakowskie, provided they are kept on a leash. It's important to be mindful of other hikers and wildlife, and always clean up after your pet. Specific nature reserves within the park might have stricter rules, so always check local signage.
Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful for family hikes in the Kraków Valleys. In spring, the valleys burst with greenery and wildflowers, while autumn offers stunning foliage. Summer is also popular, but trails can be busier. Winter walks are possible, offering a different, serene experience, but require appropriate gear for potentially icy conditions.
Yes, you'll find some charming spots to refuel. For example, the Café Niezapominajka is a known point of interest. The Brandysówka climber's shelter in Będkowska Valley also offers refreshments. Many villages bordering the park have small shops or eateries where you can grab a snack or a drink.
The area is highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.58 stars. Reviewers often praise the unique geological formations, the peaceful atmosphere of the valleys, and the variety of trails suitable for different fitness levels. The dramatic rock outcrops and lush natural scenery are frequently highlighted as major draws.
While popular valleys like Będkowska and Kobylańska can get busy, exploring lesser-known sections or visiting during off-peak hours (early mornings or weekdays) can offer a more tranquil experience. The Racławka Valley Reserve, for instance, offers a beautiful gorge and a didactic path that can be less frequented than other areas, providing a peaceful family walk.
Children will love exploring the unique rock formations, many of which have imaginative names like 'Monk' or 'Frog Horse' in Kobylańska Valley. The Wierzchowska Górna Cave offers an exciting underground adventure (check opening times and accessibility). The ruins of knight's watchtowers, such as those near Kluczwoda Valley, also spark imagination.
