In Park Kethel, inside the Nature and Environmental Education Center, an information and activity trail has been laid out. Under the name Beleef Kethelpoort, there is a path, back and forth, between the Nature Playground, opposite the NME, and the Wijland Play Polder. A long, stretched-out experience trail in the green strip between the northern districts of Schiedam. This play and experience area is intended for children between 4 and 12 years old to get acquainted with the natural environment in a playful way. In this play and experience area, there are 22 illustrated signs. The first sign is an information sign where you meet Boris Bootsmannetje. On each subsequent sign, he visits another polder inhabitant who tells something about themselves and gives you an assignment. You can see from the icon of Boris Bootsmannetje whether this is an assignment where you have to think, look closely, or where you can use a play element that stands by the sign. This way, you learn playfully more about the polder and the animals that live here. https://parkkethel.nl/bijzonder/wandelingen

The last council meeting of the Kethel and Spaland municipal council was held in the former Kethel Town Hall on July 31, 1941. Since then, the former town hall has served many purposes: a library, a police station, a restaurant, and now, since 2017, the beautiful home and fashion store 't Ketheltje has been located there. A beautiful, peaceful piece of nature, a walking area, perfect for relaxing. Or for a bit of vigorous speed walking. For me, it's a great work area as a personal trainer.

The Valckenstein Forest is a surprisingly green area amidst the bustle of Rijnmond. As soon as you emerge from the Benelux Tunnel and cycle under the A15 motorway, this tranquil forest between Hoogvliet and Poortugaal suddenly appears. It almost feels like you've discovered a hidden gem of nature. Wide paths alternate with smaller lanes, and along the waterways you often hear birds, from woodpeckers to buzzards, and even the occasional kingfisher. The forest is still young, largely planted in the 1970s and 1980s, but it has now matured enough to truly create a true woodland experience.

Next to the intersection of Harreweg and Veenweg (after 50 meters from Veenweg, Oostveenseweg follows) stands De Engelenhoek, the Verkade family's dairy farm. According to the farmer's wife, this Schiedam farm dates back to 1814 and has a rich history. Mrs. Verkade proudly explains that the farm is distinguished by its traditional colors: corn yellow and laurel green. That alone would be a reason for it to be a Komoot Highlight, but that's certainly not the only thing De Engelenhoek has to offer.
