In the Broekpolder you can enjoy wonderful walks, and of course, it's even more fun with your loyal four-legged friend. Dogs are welcome everywhere in the Broekpolder on a leash, but there are also two areas where your dog can run freely! Off-leash area That's in the area north of the Klauterwoud and the strip between the highway and the harbor of WSV Callenburgh. At the beginning of 2020, the off-leash area was addressed and renovated. Dog owners can now roam through the Broekpolder with their four-legged friends without worries. The municipality has raised the walking paths and they are more separated from mountain bikers. The off-leash areas can be found here. Dog playground There is also a paid dog playground located in the Broekpolder where dogs can let off steam with all sorts of play opportunities. The dog playground is an initiative of private individuals; for more information, see www.hondenspeeltuindebroekpolder.nl.

The Krabbeplas (also called Surfplas) is a wonderful water recreation area along the A20 next to Westwijk Vlaardingen. From the Broekpolder you can reach the Krabbeplas by car and bike/foot via the A20 motorway. Only cyclists and walkers can continue to the Zuidbuurt. You can swim, surf, play and sunbathe there. You can also fish and skate around the lake. And for a nice bite to eat and a drink there is the cozy terrace of Jofel aan de Plas.
