The Queen's Bastion (Dronningens Bastion) in Nyborg is home to several historic cannons. These cannons are an important part of the city's fortification history and symbolize its military past. More specifically, the bastion houses: Four 18-pound cannons (Model 1753): These were manufactured according to original drawings from the Armoury Museum. Two original 84-pound grenade cannons (System 1834): These have been preserved as originals. In addition to their historical significance, the cannons are still used today for special occasions. The Nyborg Fortress Foundation has established a "Saluteringslaug" (a kind of saluting masters' guild), which wears uniforms dating back to 1792 and fires cannons at events such as "Nyborg Shoots in the Summer" (Nyborg Skyder Sommeren Ind), a popular tradition.

The Crown Princess's Bastion (Danish: "Kronprinsens Bastion") in Nyborg was one of the three large bastions built in the 1660s as part of the city's fortifications. It is still relatively well preserved today and is an important part of Nyborg's historic ramparts. The bastion was strategically important and, among other things, protected the city's Land Gate. It separated the northern and eastern moats, where a three-meter difference in water level was used to power the castle mill. In the summer, the Crown Princess's Bastion serves as a venue for the open-air theater "Nyborg Voldspil." It is believed that the Crown Princess's Bastion and the also preserved "Dronningens Bastion" (Queen's Bastion) were of a similar size to the no longer preserved "Kongens Bastion" (King's Bastion).

It is only through the tunnel that you can really see how thick the wall actually is.

The marketplace (Torvet) in Nyborg is a historic square with an interesting history. Originally, it was laid out in 1537 by King Christian III as a riding and tournament ground. The Torvet is located near Nyborg Castle. The King bought up houses at the time to create a square that also served as a demarcation from the castle. A statue of King Christian IX stands in the square, created in 1909 by sculptor Hans Peder Pedersen-Dan. Pedersen-Dan is also known for other famous works in Denmark. The square is a central meeting point today. There are shops and restaurants with outdoor seating. In addition, various events take place here throughout the year, often with historical connections, such as the Danehof, an autumn market, or Christmas markets. You will also find the tourist information here.

This rusty, gold-red sculpture stands on a corner by the castle moat in Nyborg. The motif is somewhat difficult to decipher at first glance. Geometric shapes and lines meander into each other, giving the sculpture a decorative touch. A closer look reveals a person with a large, elongated figure. From the title, we know it's a fish—perhaps a small whale. The person is straining in the embrace—lifting, pushing, or pulling on the large animal. The sculpture was created by the Funen artist Harvey Martin and installed in Nyborg in 1997 as part of the exhibition "Church in Assembly Set for Self-Builders," which included a number of Martin's sculptures. Harvey Martin (1943-2014) was an artist from Funen with a close connection to Nyborg. He trained as a blacksmith and later as a sculptor at the Funen Art Academy. Martin's work has evolved over time from concrete abstraction to a more figurative language. He is known for his large-scale public sculptures made of Corten steel, which takes on a golden, rust-red color over time. https://www.visitnyborg.dk/nyborg/planlaeg-din-tur/skulpturen-den-med-fisken-gdk1135750
