The dense and very quiet forests here are something very special. The elevation profile is also very uneven and the paths are very winding. It is simply fun to hike in the Kasseedorf forests, parts of which are also protected.

The small village pond is fed by the still young Schwentine. There is an information board and a rest area here.

The development of the forests in Schleswig-Holstein is described here very clearly and with - in my opinion, impressive figures. To be honest, the figure from 1780 of "only 4% of the country's area" shocked me a bit. Thanks to a variety of measures, the stock should now be on the way from 9% to 12%. An example of the reforestation carried out years ago and the results can be seen here on site...

This place is not the Schwentine source. Even if its course further north is not shown on the komoot map or in OSM, it has its source - many sources agree on this - further north in several spring streams 1.7 km southwest of the Bungsberg, on a spring meadow northeast of the village Mountain field at a height of about 120 m. Nevertheless, the marked spot here is very beautiful, as are countless other views of the Schwentine.
