Shortly after the Brenner Moor, the path climbs a short hill; at the top, you'll encounter Scottish Highland cattle. They readily accept a carrot.

The ramparts can still be seen in the forest here. Around 830, a refuge was built on the Trave River, surrounded and secured by an earthen rampart, the Nütschau Schanze. As part of the Carolingian border fortifications, it was intended to protect the Limes Saxoniae between the Elbe and Kiel Fjord. This Saxon Wall separated the western, Germanic part of the country from the Slavic eastern part. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priorat_St._Ansgar_(N%C3%BCtschau)

A place of tranquility, peace, and togetherness. We parked our car in the parking lot to begin a hike. Afterwards, we took a short rest on a bench in front of the monastery – I met only friendly and open-minded people throughout the entire area!

The further you get from Bad Segeberg, the quieter and more secluded the path becomes – at least in winter. After rain or during thaws, it can sometimes be very muddy.
