Tips from the Community

Klausi
November 23, 2025, Roter Turm Marienberg

It is the last of what were originally four round towers. They stood at the corners of the city wall's quadrangle, indicating the cardinal directions and named after colors. The Red Tower stands in the east, the Green in the south, the White in the west, and the Black in the north. All the towers burned down in 1610; only the Red Tower was rebuilt. With a diameter of 12.00 m and a height of 18.40 m, it has three tongue-and-groove wooden floors inside. Originally intended as a storage place for weapons, it served, among other things, as a powder magazine for the military and was later rented to various businesses. Today, the tower is used by the neighboring high school for cultural events. Source: Information panel
