St. Laurentius in Wismar is a Roman Catholic parish chapel, distinctive for its 37-meter-high brick tower that marks the southeastern edge of the city. Located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, it forms part of the historic landscape of this Baltic port.

Unfortunately, the old mill is falling into disrepair over time, but the charm of bygone years is still clearly recognizable.

The church was badly damaged during World War II and later demolished after the war. The tower is all that remains. The floor plan of the rest of the church is shown in front of the tower. As far as I know, it's sometimes possible to climb the tower. It's best to check beforehand.

St. Mary's Church in Wismar was once the city's main parish church and is considered one of the most important examples of North German Brick Gothic architecture. Its construction began in the 13th century and testifies to Wismar's prosperity during the Hanseatic period. The church boasted an impressive, high nave and a mighty tower, visible from the sea and serving as a landmark for ships. During World War II, the nave was badly damaged and later demolished, but the massive tower survived. Today, it stands as a silent memorial and landmark of the city. Inside, there is a small exhibition on the history of the church and medieval architecture. St. Mary's Tower is a striking reminder of the former splendor of Wismar's churches and also offers a fascinating insight into the Hanseatic city's eventful history.

St. Mary's Church Tower. A sad but worth seeing place. More of a memorial than a church. The place seems somewhat empty, just the foundations... 💥 (1960s GDR) If you want, you can climb the steps of the tower with a guide. But it's not that spectacular. Because there's only one line of sight. And in front of your eyes 👀 window panes. 💁My recommendation is therefore to visit the observation deck of St. George's Church. If you don't want to climb stairs... there's an elevator and a clear view in all directions.

Interesting building right on the corner, designed as a triangle. Be careful, it's actually a pedestrian zone!

The mill pond is very shallow here, and at high water levels, the area can be flooded. It's more of a swamp than a moor. The boardwalk definitely helps you get around the mill pond even at higher water levels.
