Montebudello became part of Bologna in 1204, and in 1227 the castle was built there, which endured so many troubled vicissitudes in the wars against the Modenese, the Visconti, and the papal mercenaries. The castle's foundations remain, now incorporated into a villa with cellars, the western escarpment, and the 14th-century Oratory of Sant'Ubaldo, now used for other purposes but retaining its charming appearance, with lancet windows and the tower, a massive 16th-century stone building, located in a dominant position overlooking the Panaro Valley, which certainly served as a lookout. I didn't trust komoot, and I took the provincial road instead of using the cycle/pedestrian path 😔. Really narrow passage, difficult to do by bike, even carrying it by hand
