Tips from the Community

Luca N.
May 5, 2026, Villa Arvedi and Gardens

Nestled on the slopes of the Lessini mountains, in Grezzana, Villa Arvedi represents one of the most spectacular monumental complexes in Valpantena. Its origins date back to the 13th century as a castle, but it was the noble Allegri family, in the 17th century, who commissioned architect Giovanni Battista Bianchi to transform it into the sumptuous Baroque residence we admire today. The true jewel of the villa is its extraordinary Italian garden, unique in its kind for the complexity of its geometric designs with low boxwood bushes. These green embroideries house a spectacular Baroque fountain, while at the back, a charming courtyard with the noble chapel unfolds. Inside, the reception hall and adjacent rooms are breathtaking with the grand 17th-century frescoes by Louis Dorigny and Paolo Farinati.

Fantastic road with little traffic, in the shade and with really mild temperatures! while in the center of Verona it was close to 30 degrees at 8 in the morning, in the Pissarota valley we were at 20.

The Castle is a typical military artifact of the Middle Ages and represents one of the best examples of a castle structure in the Veneto. The origins of this monumental fortified work probably date back to the beginning of the 10th century, at the time of the Hungarian invasions, on the initiative of Berengario I, King of Italy. As shown by a diploma of Frederick Barbarossa, the first feudal lords were the Sambonifacio family who held the Castle until the beginning of the 13th century. In 1226 the fortress passed into the hands of Ezzelino da Romano, to become, in 1237, the property of the feudal Greppi family...... The current owner continues with inexhaustible passion the work of her beloved great-grandfather, grandfather and father, lovingly taking care of the Castle in order to preserve its superb and unaltered beauty.

The Pissarotta is a road with little traffic that runs along the Vajo Squaranto. Excellent road to take in the summer because it is always in the shade

In the Confin area, with the Squaranto canal (or stream) not far away near the town of Montorio Veronese, this fascinating building is as small as it is mysterious. It stands among the fields and it is difficult to understand whether in the past it was a small church or a granary.

A few steps from San Giovanni Lupatoto, this cycle/pedestrian walkway over the Adige River allows you to cross it in complete safety. While you are cycling or walking on it, you might notice that it is a small dam.
