I've been there several times on my MTB - when the road is no longer paved (a couple of km after the SISTINA fountain) the ground is in good condition, so this time I came with my minivan to spend the night. The altitude is 1666 and while it's still hot in Turin, it's already quite cool here; I'll use the WEBASTO tonight.... Peculiarities to consider: the Lanzo valleys are quite "damp" as they collect all the humidity from the plain. As a result, fog in the afternoon is a very common phenomenon.... with relatively very poor visibility....

Panoramic view of Lanzo station, which from here, with the mountain backdrop and the curve of the tracks, appears like a vintage postcard.
