The Kwaremont was for a very long time a climb included in the Tour of Flanders. Back then it was still a cobbled climb. Once this climb was covered with asphalt, it disappeared from the Tour of Flanders. Then they discovered the Oude Kwaremont, which runs parallel to the new Kwaremont.

The Tour of Flanders Centre is a cycling experience centre in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes, in Oudenaarde. It is a unique cycling hub that focuses on the heroism of the narrow winding Flemish roads, short and steep hills and cobblestones. Here you can feel the atmosphere of the Flemish spring races, but you are also at the right place to experience the international cycling calendar. Come by for a visit to our expo, Peloton Café, or shop. You can also rent bikes there.

In 1233, Arnulf IV, Baron of Pamele, donated land on the eastern bank of the Scheldt in Ham (Pamele) to the abbey of Maagdendale for the construction of a new Cistercian abbey. The abbey buildings and church were constructed during the 13th century. In 1791, the abbey was dissolved and in 1826 the buildings were used as army barracks. Of the former abbey, only a part of the church, the abbess' house with guest quarters and gatehouse have been preserved.
