Zelk has never been an independent municipality. Zelk has existed as a parish for centuries. The oldest document of the church in Zelk dates from 1424. The wooden chapel dedicated to Saint Pancratius, where the church now stands, was demolished in 1780. The prior of the "Carthuysers en Zeelhem" laid the foundation stone for the current church in 1781. This classicist hall church consists of a single-nave chapel in brick with decorative elements in natural stone, a semi-recessed square western tower, a straight, enclosed choir with a sacristy behind it. Two side chapels were added in 1938-1939. The entire complex is surrounded by a walled cemetery.
