The Sustrans route here is over quite rough ground and may not be suitable for wider bikes. The sign says " no motorised vehicles", not sure if that applies to ebikes. If you are unsure stick to the road route which is usually quiet.

Brutalist water tower off a long, grassy, and fairly bumpy/wet bridleway. About 3-4 buzzards circling the tower when I went past.

Decent lane on the way out of Colchester. North end connect to the Garrison cycle network. South end connects on to various lanes and bridleways around Layer and Abberton. Friday Wood runs eastwards which also has several bridleways.
