The path over the dam is impressive and the view over the Steusee is fantastic. On windy days, however, it can be unpleasant here.

Alcalá is part of the Ruta del Toro - a tourist itinerary in the province of Cádiz that runs through cattle-raising areas where fighting bulls and the retinta autochthonous breed, prized for its meat, are bred.

The Port of Membrillo is located on the Picacho Peguera cycle lane, a route that is heavily traveled by cyclists, especially in the mornings and on weekends. To do this 42.5 km route between the recreational area of Monte Picacho and the Peguera stream that passes through Los Alcornocales Natural Park from September 15 to February 15, it is necessary to consult the natural park office to carry out because there are activities of big game in the area.

A good viewpoint located on the dam to enjoy the views of the reservoir and flora of the natural park. At the end of 2022, like many reservoirs in Andalusia, it is at historic lows.

Very important to go up: since we are going to enter the national park, we must ask for permission! It must be requested by email to pn.alcornocales.cma@juntadeandalucia.es, indicating the date when we want to upload, number of people, name, address and ID. The permit must be printed. The 11th Air Surveillance Squadron (EVA) is located on the Pico del Montero, which is why we cannot climb to the top, because a fence prevents us from passing. The huge ball that we see at the top is an impressive aerial radar.

Access is very easy, and we can refresh ourselves with the watering of the oleanders that is usually activated at noon.
