This gnarled fellow is quite impressive. It is said to be between 800 and 1,000 years old and was planted at a time when the Moors dominated the area. It bears three types of olives and is probably still being pruned and harvested.

Not suitable for normal bikes. Lots of boulders and large stones make even pushing very difficult. There is even rubble and water in the underpasses. Please choose another route!

This Marian shrine did not receive its name and patronage from one of the many people who are venerated as saints. LORETO is an internationally known Marian pilgrimage site in central Italy, Marche region. However, the place did not become famous because of apparitions of the Mother of God, such as "Lourdes" (1858) in the French Pyrenees or "Fatima" (1917) in Portugal. The tradition of Marian veneration in Loreto goes back much further: a building that is considered to be the childhood home of Mary in Nazareth has been venerated there since the end of the 13th century. According to legend, angels brought the so-called "SANTA CASA" from Israel - with a few stops along the way - here. The shrine of Loreto, which serves as the model for the chapel listed here, can be found in the komoot system under the following link: + https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/1580848

In the center of the Duanes de la Mar district rises the sculptural silhouette of the Church of Our Lady of Loreto. It was inaugurated in 1967 on the site of an old chapel from 1914. This church represents the innovation and realization of a time of profound economic and social change. It is one of the most original and interesting religious buildings and represents in itself a magnificent sculpture, an example of contemporary religious architecture.
