This is one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Puy de Dôme. Just a few meters from the official starting point of the Puy de Dôme tour, you have a very clear view of the king of the puys.

In this mostly wooded area, most of the views are offered by the summits of the puys. With its beautiful vegetation, this open plain at an altitude of around 1,000 meters allows you to run amidst a pleasant, open landscape. From here, you can see the puys des Gouttes and Chopine.

As you walk along the Gouris path, you will have a breathtaking view of the Puy de Dôme, one of the most iconic volcanoes in the Auvergne region. At over 1,400 metres, the Puy de Dôme dominates the horizon with its characteristic rounded shape. As you pass it, you are sometimes rewarded with a ring of mist around its summit on cold mornings, which creates a magical experience.

A very well-preserved example of medieval military architecture. This castle was built in the 12th century by Robert Dauphin, Count of Auvergne, to defend the Sioule bridge and was enlarged in the 15th century by Gilbert III de LaFayette, Field Marshal of France. The keep and six towers are still preserved. The castle is inhabited by the descendants of the Moré de Pontgibaud family, who have owned it since 1756. At the end of the 19th century, the interior was restored in a harmonious style by Count Caesar III. Website: http://www.chateaudauphin.com
