The Radar Museum presents in two refurbished bunkers museographic spaces exhibiting the life of the station and the Douvres as well as the history of radar. The Würzburg-Riese radar A true symbol of the museum, the Würzburg radar was present on the site in 1944, in two copies which worked in pairs, one chasing Allied planes, the other guiding German planes. The Würzburg-Riese (Giant) radar allows, thanks to its 8-meter-diameter parabola, to track planes up to 80 kilometers. 1500 copies were produced during the war. All the radars on the site were destroyed during the fighting. The radar presented today comes from another station, where Professor Yves Rocard, father of French radio-astronomy, had picked it up, to make a radio-telescope installed in Meudon, and subsequently in Nançay. In the early 1990s, contacts between the Nançay research center and the Caen Memorial led to the acquisition of this radar, which had become obsolete for radio-astronomy. The city of Caen and the Memorial have ensured its identical restoration and its installation at the Radar Museum of Dover, created in 1994 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings. https://www.musee-radar.fr/web/le-musee.php
