The historic station building was demolished in 2011 to make way for an accessible public transport hub and was replaced by a simple, functional building with a ticket machine, a shop selling travel essentials, restrooms, and bicycle parking. Two stops were added for regional bus services. Ample parking is available for private vehicles. Since the 2011 reconstruction, Meerane station has had two platform tracks. From December 2026, the station will be connected to the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland network by the Länderbahn's S5 line (Glauchau-Leipzig-Halle). The RB37 line will be discontinued as a result. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof_Meerane
