A village surrounded by greenery. In our case, it was a godsend for finding shelter during a sudden storm ⛈️☂️. We spent 45 minutes under a shelter! We didn't see any facilities or water fountains.

A good place to stop in the shade of the trees and with water available from the two fountains in the cemetery.

Very busy road without a separate bike path (like almost everywhere in Croatia). Ideally, don't take too much luggage with you, because the climb from Rijeka is almost uninterrupted and steep in places.

Small place with a pretty chapel for a rest

Not the quietest road, quite a bit of traffic. But there are some very nice sections in between. There is enough space for cars to overtake, but what is a bit annoying are the gravel trucks that are on their way to the gravel works halfway along the route.

This is a meeting of several paths deep in the Risnjak National Park. A short hike to the north east are the mighty Veliki Risnjak and the Schlosser hut, while the path to the north west heads towards Snježnik and Guslica, fine peaks in their own right. The path to the west descends to the Platak ski area, while to the south is the car park at Vilje.

Three forest roads and several hiking trails meet at Cajtiga. An important intersection between Platka, Snježnik, Lazac, Risnjak and Vilje.
