A small confectionery and ice cream parlor is an additional point of sale of the PIERZ confectionery located on Podgórze Street. Among the various cakes, I can recommend the traditional cream cake, current price PLN 4.80. There is very little space inside, but two chairs and a table have been arranged, and outside there is an openwork gazebo with chairs and a table. The location is very advantageous - by the promenade, which tourists and cyclists use from the Sanok castle and the Market Square towards the parish church or the bench of the soldier Švejk. The confectionery is open in the summer season: Mon - Fri 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sat 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sun 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. WW

In times long past, the Market Square in Sanok was an oasis of greenery in this part of the city. After the change of regime, the trees were cut down, and the Market Square was paved mostly in red, hence its name, Red Square. On hot days, the center of the square is unbearably hot. You can seek refreshment under the umbrellas where ice cream is sold, or by the fountain located closer to City Hall. Even better, stop by the Franciscan Church for a moment and find not only refreshment but also peace. WW

(...) The idea of painting a mural on the recently completed retaining wall, above the new parking lot at ul. Podgórze was initiated by the Mayor of the City of Sanok - Tadeusz Pióro. The Department of Culture and Promotion of the Municipal Office proposed topics to be painted, drawn from the history of the city, literature and legends about Sanok. Artists: Arkadiusz Andrejkow and Marek Szatkowski selected characters and events from the proposed list and visualized them according to their own concept. The work continued throughout May. On the mural resembling photographs hanging on a string against the sky, the following are presented: Archangel Michael, granting city rights to Sanok, Władysław Jagiełło, Queen Bona Sforza, Jacek Dydyński from Lisowka, Józef Szwejk, Marian Zaremba, bus SAN H-01, painting by Zdzisław Beksiński, the coat of arms of the city. It is a real treat for lovers of murals - such an accumulation in one easily accessible place. The artist used retaining walls supporting the escarpment on which the old town of Sanok is located. There is a parking lot right next to it, so the attraction is also easily accessible to tourists by car. Retaining walls are needed here and on both sides because the hill is not rocky but clay and tends to slide. This was experienced by the nearby Franciscan monastery, where cracks in the structure of the historic church were observed. For the same reason, it was decided to "impregnate" the market square in Sanok (next to which the monastery is located), from where old trees were removed and paved with red cubes, which led some people to call it Red Square.

The stairs run from ul. Podgórze and end at the top at ul. May 3 (the so-called "Hungarian Gate"). Otherwise known as "Sanok serpentines". In 1977, they were renovated by the Public Roads Region. K. Sitko and K. Sowa were appointed as responsible managers. In April 1989, the traditional name was restored, changing the former Roadworkers' Stairs to Serpentine Stairs. A link was created between the Serpentine Steps and the Franciscan Steps. At the top of the stairs there is a tenement house adjoining to the south at ul. 3 Maja 15, where the restaurant "U Szwejka" was opened. On the wall of this building, next to the stairs, in the form of graffiti, the Sanok house of the Beksiński and Lipiński families was immortalized, and an information plate was placed on the trail in the footsteps of the good soldier Szwejk, which concerns the existing street above on the promenade.
