The first wooden church was built in 1549 thanks to a foundation by Piotr Firlej. From 1551 to 1595, it was owned by Protestants as a Calvinist church, later handed over to Catholics and consecrated by Bishop Andrzej Próchnicki in 1612. The current structure, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, was built between 1764 and 1781, likely by architect Józef Gringenberg. The church was consecrated by Bishop Jan Lenczowski in 1779. Despite renovations, it has remained in its original condition (roof repaired around 1950, complete renovation including the restoration of the polychrome in 1973, another roof repair in 1986, exterior façade repair in 1987, and the floor replaced with marble in 1988-92). The single-nave, brick, late Baroque building features two sacristies adjacent to the chancel, a richly modeled church façade, a semicircular vault, interior décor from the period of the church's construction, and seven Baroque altars. The main altar features a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa—and, on the latch, St. John the Baptist. On the left are altars of: Our Lady, St. Anthony, and St. Paul the Apostle (with paintings). On the right: the Sacred Heart (figure in the altar), the Presentation of the Lord Jesus, and St. Peter the Apostle. A Baroque pulpit, a wooden baptismal font, and a 10-stop organ from 1908 by Hartman in the choir loft. Carved oak pews were made between 1988 and 1895. The bell tower, built along with the church, features two bells from 1961 (one by the Felczyński family, the other by M. Wojtkowska from Wągrów), consecrated on June 25, 1961, by Bishop Henryk Strąkowski. In 1998, the bell tower underwent a major renovation. Baranów also has two roadside chapels from the early 20th century.

In 2012, on the 490th anniversary of Grodzisk Mazowiecki receiving city rights, the ponds were revitalized, including a complete reconstruction of the facility, including cleaning and widening the water reservoirs, and planting plants.
