Türlersee

Highlight • Lake

The Türlersee is very easy to walk around with a stroller. The path goes continuously around the lake close to the shore and half of the path is in the shade of the forest. There are numerous fishing piers and bathing areas. However, we did not find a bathing area that was suitable for small children to splash around in.

Lake Türler

Very nice lake. The eastern shore of the lake is ideal for walking and biking (although the cycle path runs on the western side). But here in the southern part night driving ban (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) when the amphibians spawn, further back then suddenly a total driving ban...

Pier at Türlersee

Highlight • Lake

If the Restaurant Türlersee is closed, continue down the valley towards Aeugstertal. After a couple of jundred meters, there's the Museum Pegasus Small World, which has a restaurant. If that is closed, continue further to the quaint old Restaurant Pöstli in Aeugstertal. It's worth a visit.

Did you know that the lake was formed by a rockslide? I didn't! Check the description under the video or on Wikipedia, that's where I got the information. https://youtu.be/QWDeZaNdCsY

There is a legend about the origin of the water: Where the Türlersee now spreads out, there used to be a beautiful farm with fertile fields. The owner had an only child, a graceful, dear daughter. This caught the eye of the young lord of the Schnabelburg, and he pursued it passionately. However, the respectable child persistently rejected all his promises. The lord of the castle persuaded the father to bring the girl to the castle at midnight under all sorts of pretenses. He opened the gate himself and drew in the reluctant woman. As he was about to close the gate, she realized what was being played and uttered a cry of cursing at her treacherous father. At that moment, a flaming bolt of lightning shot down from the sky and struck her parents' house. She saw a fiery chasm open and the fair and once blessed courtyard with all the fields within it vanished. But in the morning there was a lake in its place.
