The historic Dyfi Bridge (Pont ar Ddyfi) near Machynlleth dates back to 1805, following earlier timber and stone structures from 1533 and 1681. It served as the main A487 crossing until it was permanently closed to vehicles in February 2024 and replaced by a new £46 million modern viaduct upstream to prevent frequent flood closures.

This is a very impressive section of the Glyndŵr’s Way long-distance trail. From its source at Glaslyn, the Afon Dulas tumbles down a steep-sided valley. The gravel track here is popular with both walkers and mountain bikers, so remember your trail etiquette!

At 1,850 feet (564 m), Foel Fadian's summit provides exceptional views that include beautiful Dulas Valley, Machynlleth and out to sea. It lies just a short way off the Glyndŵr’s Way long-distance trail and is a worthy detour. It stands proud above a dramatic, steep-sided cwm that guides the burgeoning Afon Dulas.
