The church was built around 1197 and is the oldest building in the town. Particularly worth seeing are the Gothic winged altarpiece (around 1470) and the medieval works of art inside. It is dedicated to Saint Servatius of Tongeren (†384), one of the "Ice Saints." The name "Servatius" comes from the Latin servare = "to preserve, to save" – Servatius therefore means "the preserver."

St. Servatius Church in Selent stands close to Lake Selent in the north of Holstein Switzerland. Built around 1197, it is the northernmost church in Europe dedicated to St. Servatius. It is also the patron church of the surrounding estates of Lammershagen, Wittenberg, Rastorf, and Salzau Castle. Originally built as a late Romanesque hall church, it was expanded over the centuries into a Gothic church with a cruciform floor plan. Church in Lebrade The church was first mentioned in 1240. Its core is a baroque hall building erected in 1699–1700, incorporating the north wall of its Romanesque predecessor, by order of the Danish King Christian V. The first version of the interior painting in acanthus ornamentation, modeled after the Christ Church in Rendsburg, was renewed in rocaille forms in 1758 under the Rixdorf church patron Count Wulf Hinrich von Baudissin. After being plastered over in 1830, the rococo version was uncovered and restored in 1986–1988. The exterior was redesigned in neo-Gothic forms in 1873–1874 by the Kiel architect Heinrich Moldenschardt. At the same time, the striking west tower was added, replacing a former wooden bell tower.
