The old, probably the first, St. James Church in Niederau was already considered too small in 1585. After various repairs and reconstructions, it was rebuilt in 1878 and consecrated on January 19, 1879. During the renovation in 1973, the interior was redesigned. In the 17th-century records, the building was mentioned as the "Schloss" (castle) of Großenhain. St. James' Church and Parish House, Niederau. Information: As early as 1585, it was documented that the old St. James' Church could no longer accommodate the number of its visitors. After various repairs and renovations, the church was completely rebuilt in its present form in 1878 and consecrated on January 19, 1879. On April 27, 1945, the church tower burned down as a result of shelling. It was rebuilt in 1950. The current parish house was built in 1843. The pastor, who has been responsible for both the Niederau and Oberau churches since 1829, lives here.
