As a reminder of the battle and the memorable victory of the Catholic cantons over the Reformed, as well as in memory of the fallen, a chapel is erected on the Gubel in 1556, 25 years after the battle. Consecrated in 1559 to the Mother of God and St. Severin, it already contains a first battle painting. However, the accompanying verses quickly cause offense in Zurich, from where a complaint is lodged. At the end of the 17th century, a new battle painting is created, and next to the chapel, also a hermitage. The pilgrimage to the miraculous image experiences a boom in the second half of the 18th century, and again it receives a new battle painting. After a fire in the hermit's house, which also damaged the church, the current church is built in 1781. In the mid-19th century, the Capuchin convent is founded, which led to the construction of the current convent buildings. https://youtu.be/zhWrnYe-rlU

This tour requires a good level of fitness and a fair amount of "hope" at the beginning, as the first few kilometers are quite steep uphill. But the view is worth it...

A beautiful tour, mostly in the shade even on hot days, with a great reward: a 360° view of the Wildspitz and a culinary highlight in the mountain inn.

A wonderful panoramic summit. Reachable on foot from Arth-Goldau, Zugerberg, or Sattelb. The Gnipen is the western peak of the Rossberg, on the border between the cantons of Schwyz and Zug – almost 1567 meters high. Its distinctive, bare southwest slope offers spectacular views into the area of the Goldau landslide of 1806, in which approximately 40 million cubic meters of rock slid down the slope and almost completely destroyed Goldau.

Unfortunately, this is relevant again today, more than ever. Tyranny must be fought.
