Hankø is a beautiful car-free island in the southern Oslofjord. The island is a natural paradise and offers great coastal hiking, wildlife and premier wild swimming spots. It is also well known internationally for its sailing, tennis and recreational facilities. In addition, due to its close proximity to Oslo, it is a popular summer holiday area with a liberal sprinkling of summer cottages. It is easily accessable by ferry from Hankøsundet.

On the Helsestien trail, you cross the Hæra stream several times – always over pretty little bridges.

This section, known as Bryggstien or the Bridge Trail, literally runs over the rocks. Since it was impossible to create a safe path this close to the water, a wooden walkway on stilts was built. The view along the entire route is superb.

Glengsholen looks like a large lake, but it’s actually an inlet of the Glomma Fjord. From the shore, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view and spacious lawns where you can picnic, play, or relax. This is also where the ferry arrives.
