Torre Aragonese, Bagnara Calabra Nestled in a suggestive frame and overlooking the sea to protect the territory, with the Aeolian Islands in front and the Apennines behind, stands the Torre Ruggero or di Capo di Rocchi. The tower, of Norman or Aragonese origin, is one of the main tourist attractions in Bagnara Calabra, a town a few kilometers from Messina Me. Probably dated between the 15th and 16th centuries, the tower stands in Contrada Caciclì and is circular with a truncated cone-shaped base. There are also traces of consoles supporting the cadiola and the crenellated crown at the entrance. The 1638 earthquake damaged most of it, but today it seems fully restored. One of its peculiarities is certainly its position: it is a cultural and social reference point. Bagnara Calabra is located 37 km northeast of Reggio Calabria on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. A good place down in the "new" part of town (on the beach) to take a break!
