It can also be reached from Bibbona and Cecina. For those coming from Bibbona, it suddenly appears, with the fortress and historic center overlooking the more recently built town, and olive groves and cypress trees below. Casale, in addition to its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, is certainly worth a half-day visit for its many other remarkable features. From a historical and urban perspective, it is a typical medieval village perched on a hill, with the remains of its walls, narrow, steep streets, winding alleys that wind between the houses, the "Castello" (fortress), the church, and the most important public buildings and noble residences. Their construction materials, stone and brick, give the village a characteristic red-and-gray hue. From a landscape perspective, the Casale fortress offers a wide and spectacular view of the red roofs of the village, the sea and islands, the countryside below, and the surrounding valleys and mountains.
