The building, rebuilt in 1720 by Dorotea Sofia of Neoburg, wife of Duke Francesco Farnese, has an octagonal plan with two towers and a double-vaulted dome and a characteristic roof of yellow, blue and white majolica tiles. Inside, the dome, frescoed by Sebastiano Galeotti with the “Assumption welcomed into Paradise by the Trinity”, can be glimpsed thanks to a star-shaped opening. On the high altar is the “Annunciation” by Giovanni Maria Piane known as Molinaretto (1660 – 1745) and on the two side altars stand out “The Visitation” and the “Nativity” works by Clemente Ruta. On the entrance portal, in 1775, was placed the organ made by Giovanni Cavalletti with a wooden case carved by Ignazio Marchetti. By testamentary bequest of Dorotea Sofia, the oratory, the rectory and the annexed furnishings constituted hereditary assets of the Duchesses of Parma.
