The old bridge of Albino on the Serio river has a typical medieval structure, with four arches of varying width, increasing towards the riverbed and with a limited carriageway (2.2 meters) of pronounced slope. The existence of the bridge is documented since the 14th century; its origins are unknown, but can be approximately dated back to the 13th century, a period when the exploitation of water to power mill wheels and other workshops was spreading. From this period also dates the construction of the Roggia Sega, a canal on the left bank of the Serio which, in addition to a sawmill, also powered a pestle (cereal mortar) right near the bridge. The sawmill supplied timber, which was in high demand and available in the vast wooded areas of Oltreserio.
