Church of Sant'Antonio abandoned Parre The Church of Sant'Antonio is located in a splendid position on the meadows of Monte Alino, above Parre, in the province of Bergamo. It is a small oratory dedicated to Sant'Antonio da Padova, built for popular devotion after the plague of 1630. In past centuries, during the summer, a chaplain celebrated religious functions for the families who lived in the surrounding farmhouses. Inside the church there are works of art of great value, including an altarpiece with Sant'Antonio da Padova painted by the Bergamo painter Carlo Ceresa (1609-1679). Furthermore, on the vault of the apse there is a restored altarpiece from the 18th century depicting the Coronation of the Virgin, attributed to the school of Carpinoni. Another 18th-century painting by an unknown artist depicts the Blessed Alberto da Villa d'Ogna, to whom a dove brings the Eucharist. On the arch of the presbytery is represented the Miracle of the Donkey, an episode from the life of Saint Anthony. The church can be reached by following a mule track, and offers a panoramic view of the Seriana Valley. It is an ideal place for a short excursion and to enjoy the tranquility of nature
