Il Rifugio Budec (or Budek, according to the traditional spelling) is a historic and very characteristic landmark located in the mountains of Esine, along the path that ascends towards San Glisente. It is a place that fits perfectly into the network of trails that you know well between Peia, Val Cavena, Librini and the ridge towards Bivacco Bassi. 🏔️ Where it is located and what the refuge is like The refuge is located on the Bosico plateau, at 1322 m, in a wide and bright clearing. It is built in granite blocks, like the nearby church, and this gives it a solid and alpine appearance, very different from the typical wooden huts of the Orobie. It was inaugurated in 1983 and is classified as unmanaged: it offers shelter, tables and a rustic environment, but no catering service.

Founded in the 15th century, the Sanctuary is a notable example of Lombard late Gothic architecture. The convent is run by the Capuchin Friars and is particularly linked to the figure of Blessed Innocenzo da Berzo, whose cell-museum is open to visitors.
