I parked the car a few hundred meters from the Novate Mezzola station (there is a large car park with a bar and fountain) after crossing the SS36 and passing under the railway the signs for the beautiful Valchiavenna cycle path begin and after 15km along the river and away from traffic you find yourself at the foot of the climb to Spluga 30km away.
