There is a great panoramic path at the top of the cape. It is very steep on the south side, but on the north side there are various paths that lead down to the beach.

The Torre Salsa nature reserve is an oasis protected by the WWF. Inside the reserve, there is the Salsa Tower. The coast is characterized by high overhanging cliffs and the territory is covered with vineyards, olive groves and the "Secagno" tomato, which grows only in this drought area. In spring, the 20 species of orchids bloom which can be visited by following the path from the visitor center that leads to the orchid garden.

With Siculiana Marina, a little off the route directly on the sea, the ideal place for a break was found

Status May 2022. I can only confirm Anja's suggestion. The road to the Torre Salsa Reserve is in poor condition. Recommended only for cars with sufficient ground clearance; our Fiat 500 rental car lands. But you can also park directly at the intersection with the main road (see tour registration). There is now a gated house on the way. We used the garden gate as the property is not permanently inhabited. Maybe it's best to walk around generously. From the beach car park, the path is quite overgrown, but can still be found and passed. Stunning sea views. Almost no shadow all the way.

Dear hiking friends, unfortunately this fantastic tour is more or less completely in the private property of Agriturismo Torre Salsa. Access via the WWF site is not clearly delimited. Since the site is partially fenced, it is a "way of no return". We were informed of this by the owner near the beach and sent back. The tour should therefore definitely be removed !!

You can visit the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve, a WWF-protected oasis with 6 kilometers of pristine sandy beaches, high cliffs, and unique flora like 20 species of orchids blooming in spring. Another notable natural monument is Capo Bianco, offering a panoramic path at its summit and various routes down to the beach. The Dama Bianca Cliffs are also part of the Torre Salsa area, known for their striking formations.
Yes, the area boasts significant historical sites. You can explore the evocative ruins of the old village of Monte Suso, the original site of Montallegro from the 16th century, where urban structures and religious buildings are still identifiable. Approximately two kilometers outside Montallegro, you'll find Roman settlement ruins, under excavation since the 1980s, which have yielded pottery, tiles, and coins. Additionally, the archeological site of Heraclea Minoa, an ancient town with a rich history, is considered one of Sicily's most spectacular.
For beach lovers, Montallegro offers several excellent options. The Torre Salsa Nature Reserve features pristine, golden sandy beaches ideal for a tranquil experience. Siculiana Marina Beach is another popular spot, known for its beach bars and opportunities for swimming. Secca Grande Beach is also highlighted as a top tourist attraction in the area.

Spring is particularly recommended for visiting Montallegro, especially if you're interested in nature. During this season, the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve comes alive with the bloom of 20 species of orchids. The weather is generally pleasant for hiking, cycling, and exploring the historical sites without the intense heat of summer.
Absolutely. Capo Bianco offers a fantastic panoramic path at its summit, providing stunning views of the coastline. The Dama Bianca Cliffs also provide scenic vistas over the sea and the surrounding natural landscape.
Beyond the well-known reserves, the Gorgo is a small body of water that has become a nature reserve and a crucial resting place for migratory birds on their journey to Africa. This offers a unique opportunity for birdwatching and experiencing a quieter side of the region's natural beauty.
