The Großer Schierensee is a lake in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, northwest of the town of Schierensee. The lake is approximately 50 hectares in size and up to 11.7 m deep. It is described by the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Environment as a calcareous, stratified lowland lake with a relatively large catchment area.[1] The stratified lake belongs to the Obereider and Kiel Canal water systems.
