On this section you hike along the edge of the forest and have a great view. On the other side of the main road is the town of Sohren and on the horizon you can see the over 700 meter high Idarkopf.

The tunnel, which is almost square at the beginning (you can only see a triangle from the outside because the right side is covered with leaves) leads a long way into the mountain through several excavation chambers, but is quite low in places due to the slate debris.
