Since the 16th century, Nice has been referred to as Nicea Palearum or of the Straw, thanks to the roofs of the houses that were built with woven straw and grasses. These materials were present in the marshy soils of the place of origin, located at the confluence of the Nizza and Belbo streams. Today, in the Piedmontese dialect, it is still popularly called Nissa dla Paja. In some old houses it is still possible to find false ceilings made following that method.

The Sternia is a unique road of its kind located in Canelli, a town in the province of Asti Italy. This pedestrian stretch of road originates from Piazza San Tommaso and extends to the top of the hill where you will find the imposing Castello Gancia. You will reach Piazza San Leonardo, an enchanting place that houses the Church of San Rocco and the Church of San Leonardo.
