One of the numerous mountain huts in this Alpago region, the Malga Cate farmhouse is located in the municipality of Chies and rises to around 1,050 meters above sea level. It's an ideal place for a stopover, offering homemade dishes such as lamb in the pan and tagliatelle. Running along these trails is a fantastic experience. Some routes go higher, through larch forests, up to extraordinary panoramic points. I recommend getting here by climbing from Lake Santa Croce; there are splendid paths surrounded by nature.

One of the many mountain huts present in this area of Alpago, the Cate mountain hut is located in the municipality of Chies and rises at around 1,050 meters above sea level. It's a perfect place for a break, thanks to homemade dishes such as pan-fried lamb and tagliatelle. The Cate hut also served as the Mountain Grand Prix in the seventh stage of the Giro Next Gen 2023: the race came from Chies, it was the penultimate climb and Jan Christen won at the Cansiglio finish line.

Casera Pal, formerly Malga Cate, stands at an altitude of 1050 m, at the entrance to the Val Salatis. A well-known hiking reference, it is the starting point of numerous itineraries, both in summer and in winter, on the Alpago Mountains. The structure, owned by the Regola del Monte Salatis of Chies, has been managed by the Boschetto family since 2021. The agritourism, open all year round, offers a typical menu based on home-grown raw materials (sheep, lamb and garden produce). www.caserapal.it

New management. Good catering. There are even self-contained picnic areas. Here begins the path to the Semenza Refuge or the Toffolon bivouac. The farmhouse can also be reached by car. Reservation to eat is recommended.
